After an action-packed day of watersports, golf and tennis, is there a better way to recharge and rejuvenate than at The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Nevis?  With its array of nurturing services inspired by the natural rhythms and beauty of Nevis, GayTravel.com had the pleasure of experiencing this authentic Caribbean sanctuary.

Upon arrival at the spa, we were warmly greeted at the front desk by Meryl Dore whose gracious demeanor set the tone for what was in store…a 50-minute Four Seasons Nevis Naturally Massage.  Marsha Dixon brought us to the lounge and locker rooms replete with everything one could want including sauna, steam, showers, and pampering products including cold face towels thoughtfully placed where one might wish to indulge.

Once in our robes and comfortable footwear that was pre-selected for us to size, we wandered from the locker room to the lush and idyllic surroundings outdoors where lemon grass-infused tea was waiting.  One of the advantages of being located on such a quintessential, beautiful, tropical island is that the spa experience is that much more transformational.   The overall feeling of well-being and peacefulness was ever present as we strolled throughout the grounds.  Each step met by visual delights of a lush greenery, brilliantly-colored flowers, a charming, copper fountain, the breathtaking view of Nevis Peak, waterfalls and scenery that reminded us we were ensconced in paradise.

Reginald Bartlette approached and let me know it was time for my massage.  His contagious smile made me feel happy at once as we approached the West Indian Colonial style, gingerbread-trimmed cottages/treatment rooms.  Reginald explained the holistic approach of blending local tradition and natural therapies for a full mind and body experience, and he let me know that that The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Nevis has its very own herb garden, which pays homage to the organic bounty of Nevis that stems from the island’s fertile, volcanic soil. I learned that for centuries, Nevisians have honed the art of natural therapies by practicing plant remedies, and as Reginald explained, the garden’s plants are used in certain spa treatments and rituals.

I was already planning in my mind another spa treatment or perhaps even a daylong spa immersion including the Spa Cuisine Menu that Reginald described as divine!  Since Nevis and St. Kitts have hundreds of years of sugar-producing history, I was keen to try the Golden Sugar Skin Buff wherein Gold particles, cane sugar, minerals and apricot kernel oil are combined in a heaven-scented scrub that exfoliates and hydrates your skin.  Next, a golden, shimmering oil of apricot, carrot and calendula is applied all over, leaving your skin feeling radiant, smooth and supple.  Sounds like the perfect antidote to everything I left behind when I came on vacation!

Following my treatment, Reginald served a glass of homemade infused water to hydrate.  I relaxed in the outdoor Spa Gardens where there are two hydrotherapy pools, including a volcanic stone Jacuzzi.  My favorite spot was the Japanese-inspired cold pool that artistically framed Nevis Peak.  Ahhhh, I could stay forever…
