Featured Gay Friendly Hotels in Quintana Roo

Gay Quintana Roo

Located on Mexico’s famed Yucatan Peninsula and the youngest state in the country, Quintana Roo is the only official coast of Mexico's to be in the Caribbean Sea. As such, the world's second longest reef system, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, is to be found offshore along the entirety of the state. The coastal area is entirely more famous, however, for its extensive Mayan ruins, thus giving it the moniker of “Riviera Maya.”

The Riviera Maya region offers the same brilliant beaches and resorts as Cancun without the crowds.  From ancient Mayan relics to brilliant white sand beaches, Riviera Maya is a place to escape the noise of everyday life and slip into an unforgettable adventure.  It has been named Best Beach Destination in Mexico by numerous travel associations, furthering its popularity with top-notch international travelers the world over. The area has been drastically growing in popularity the past few decades. The town of Costa Maya added a pier capable of docking cruise ships in 2007. With cruise ships though, come gay cruisers (pun intended) and the area is home to a surprisingly gay-friendly atmosphere. Indeed, the Riviera Maya or more specifically, Playa del Carmen, may in the near future be on the same competitive level with Puerto Vallarta in terms of attracting gay tourists.
