Along the Isar River and in the foothills of the Alps you’ve got plenty of options for recreation and outdoor activities.
Munich Gay Scene
Munich is Germany’s third largest city with a population of 1.3 million (2.7 million in the Munich metropolitan area) and as such it’s got a diverse gay scene.
Most of Munich’s gay cafes, bars and shops are located in the city center in the area Glockenbachviertel close to the subway station Sendlinger Tor. Annual gay highlights in Munich are the leather and fetish meeting at the Starkbierfest in March, several street fairs from June till August, the Gay Pride Weekend (CSD) in July, the gay & lesbian film festival Verzaubert Film Weekend, and the gay Sunday at the world-famous Oktoberfest in September.
Gay-Friendly Dining
Most people that travel to Munich go straight the Hofbräuhaus and never make it out as it is the oldest beer hall in the world. But if you decide to venture out Munich does offer some great gay bars that are worth checking out.

Though this place might not look like much from the outside the food is outstanding by all standards. Chef Hans Haas has diligently kept at the forefront of Munich restaurant with inventive and delicious daily menus to which the staff sommelier will gladly offer pairing options that will delight your palate. The desserts offered up by this culinary artist will wow all of your senses. Chef Haas’ unique presentations may cause pause, but once you take your first bite you will be hooked.
