Hurricanes have brought hazardous conditions to a number of areas throughout the Caribbean and Florida over the past few weeks.
We understand that many people’s travel plans have been affected, we will try to keep you up to date on the regions you may have had plans to travel to.
As of September 26, 2017:
Anguilla
Anguilla was severely impacted by the passage of Hurricane Irma on September 6, and suffered more damage on September 9 from category-four Hurricane Jose. Hurricane Maria hit the island on September 20, leaving the island without power. However, sources on the ground confirmed that restaurants and shops are looking to reopen soon, and the overall outlook suggests that our properties will be ready for holiday reservations.
Antigua
Antigua escaped major damage from Hurricane Irma, and there has been no structural damage to any of the Luxury Retreats properties on the island. A landscaping clean-up is under way and guests should be able to travel to the island as early as October 2017. There is no advisory in effect for Antigua.
Barbados
The island of Barbados was not affected by Hurricane Irma. Hurricane Maria passed about 90 miles north of the island on September 18. The flood watch following Hurricane Maria was lifted on September 20, 2017.
Barbuda
This Caribbean island that forms a country with Antigua has been completely damaged or destroyed and all residents were forced to evacuate. Not a single living person remains on the island.
Bonaire
The island of Bonaire was not affected by Hurricane Irma. The island of Bonaire was not affected by the recent hurricanes. There is no advisory in effect.

British Virgin Islands
The British Virgin Islands were severely impacted by Hurricane Irma on September 7, and further affected by Hurricane Jose on September 9-10, 2017. Hurricane Maria made landfall on the BVI on September 20, 2017, causing further damage across Tortola and Virgin Gorda.
Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands were not affected by the recent hurricanes. There is no advisory in effect.
Cuba
Tourists are advised to avoid travel at this time. Hurricane Irma destroyed roads and buildings. There is a concern for Havana's fragile infrastructure and Cubans worry more buildings may collapse.
Dominican Republic
Hurricane Irma passed the north coast of the Dominican Republic on September 8, followed by Hurricane Maria on September 21, 2017. There were reports of local flooding and some damage in the north and east of the country, but airports are open and there were no reports of serious damage to hotels and tourist infrastructures.
Dominica
Hurricane Maria shredded the island. There is not a single street that wasn't damaged by the storm. There is no running water or electricity at this time and communication is very limited.
Grenada
The island of Grenada was not affected by the recent hurricanes. There is no advisory in effect
Jamaica
The island was not affected by the recent hurricanes. There is no advisory in effect.
St. Barts
The island of St. Barts was severely affected by the passage of Hurricane Irma on September 6, 2017. Cleanup efforts are underway, however it will be some time before travel to the island is advised.
St. Martin
The island was hit extremely hard by the passage of Hurricane Irma, most structures have been damaged.
Turks and Caicos Islands
The Turks and Caicos Islands were severely impacted by Hurricane Irma on September 7, 2017. The island of Providenciales, however, held up well, with superficial damage only to Leeward and Grace Bay. Hurricane Maria did not add significantly to earlier damage on September 22, 2017, other than to the island of Grand Turk. Services are returning to normal on Providenciales. Commercial flights have resumed.
Florida
Hurricane Irma was downgraded to a tropical storm on September 11, 2017, leaving a trail of devastation, flooding and power outages statewide. All airports in Florida have now reopened to commercial aircraft. Travel to the Florida Keys and Naples is not advised due to damage caused by Hurricane Irma.
Puerto Rico
Hurricane Irma passed just north of Puerto Rico on September 6, 2017, ravaging some parts of the island. Hurricane Maria made landfall on the island as a powerful category 4 storm on September 20, 2017 causing severe flooding. As of the time of this report, power has not been restored to the island.
US Virgin Islands
The islands of St. John and St. Thomas were severely impacted by Hurricane Irma on September 6, 2017. On September 19, 2017, Hurricane Maria battered the island of St Croix. The authorities in the US Virgin Islands have declared a state of emergency, and hurricane warnings remain in place. Travel to the Virgin Islands is not advised at this time but travel plans should resume by the end of the year.
