It has been said that curiosity can kill a cat, but one oversized kitty sitting pretty at the entrance of The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa has another tale to tell.

Introducing Lucky Cat, a nine-foot tall chrome-finished fiberglass statue that rewards guests with a fortune card as they curiously reach out for a shake of its paw. The statue represents a historic Japanese cultural icon, maneki-neko, a widely recognized symbol of good luck.

The installation of the interactive furless feline marks the anniversary of 40 years of business for the resort and offers visitors a chance to win a wide range of gifts and experiences including a complimentary dinner for two, a full-day ocean-view private cabana, and a spa treatment at Oahu's premier resort spa, Na Ho’ola.

“We are confident that visitors from across the globe will enjoy taking selfies and receiving fortunes from this extraordinary manaki-neko,” remarked David Nadelman, Area Vice President, and General Manager. “I am certain that it will mark the beginning of another fabulous 40 years for our property.”

Visitors of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki are encouraged to take their photo with Lucky Cat and share their experience on social media using #YouLuckyCat.
