COVID-19 can’t stop the music. While shelter-in-place orders slowly lift, there are many activities that are out of reach for most of us for the foreseeable future such as the 75th Annual Tony Awards. The show was postponed in March, then rescheduled to June, and now postponed once again. That doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy a version of them at home. Broadway stars are getting together and recording some of our favorite songs.
The cast of Hairspray shared a fantastic rendition of “You Can’t Stop the Beat” featuring the actors from the films and broadway.

The Broadway cast of Hamilton didn’t miss out on the fun either. In late April, they performed one of their songs as part of John Krasinski’s show “Some Good News.”

The arts serve as beautiful reminders for us all. These musicals in particular share a powerful message we need during this time. The arts remind us that diversity is not only beautiful but is an integral part of inclusive societies throughout the world. At GayTravel, we celebrate the intersectional beauty of the LGBTQ+ community and offer our support and love in difficult times. As we grapple with current events, remember to look to the arts: not only to lighten our spirits but to enlighten our minds and hearts.
